10/3/11 The Lion King ROARED!!!!

On stage at the Minskoff Theater yesterday, the lions sang, danced, and roared. And in the audience, the cubs screamed, cried, spoke out, called to the actors, cheered, and applauded. And it was all good. Yesterday was the first ever autism-friendly performance of a live Broadway show – and it was glorious. As their children sat, stood, flapped, and twirled, I saw many parents wipe away tears (I choked up several times) at the utter joy of total acceptance, tolerance, and understanding. We were all in the same boat after all. Only this boat carried us all to a magical world.
